I am a grant writer consultant for the Teaching Institute for Excellence in STEM, an educational consulting group that brings cutting-edge STEM design resources to schools and organizations across the nation and around the world. I work on a range of projects, from small, local foundation grants to federally-funded, multi-partner international work. I focus mainly on the pre-award process, which includes grant research, partner outreach, communication with subject-matter experts (SMEs), drafting, revision, and submission. More recently I have taken on post-award management roles as well, ensuring that grant activities remain on track and properly documented for reporting purposes.

In many ways, though, my role at TIES goes beyond grant writing. I also create document templates; write stock content for proposals, marketing, and web materials; and update and enforce our team style guide. Finally, I provide writing, editing, and formatting support to all TIES team members for client cost proposals, letters of commitment and support, course manuals and other teaching tools, PowerPoints, internal documentation and reports, and more.

I am thankful for the preparation that I received through the PWE program. Thanks to my PWE coursework, graduate assistantship in grants, and internship (also completed at TIES), I was prepared to work as the sole writer among SMEs, navigate the grant writing process, develop and implement a range of writing best practices, and most importantly, juggle many projects within the context of a remote work environment.
