Undergraduate Courses

Courses in English allow students to explore literature and cultural studies, creative writing, and professional writing and editing. Our undergraduate courses range across the 100, 200, 300, and 400 levels. All English courses pursue at least one of the three following goals 1) Interpret texts within diverse literary, cultural, and historical contexts 2) Demonstrate a general knowledge of the social and structural aspects of the English language 3) Demonstrate a range of contextually effective writing strategies. Additionally, English courses offer preparation for professional careers in teaching, professional and technical writing, editing and publishing, law, medicine, business, and all levels of government and non-profit work.
