Center for Writing Excellence
The Center for Writing Excellence (CWE) supports faculty, students, and staff in teaching and improving writing at West Virginia University. The CWE currently coordinates six programs and their related courses: the Creative Writing Program, the Distance Writing Program, the National Writing Project at WVU, the Professional Writing Program, the Undergraduate Writing Program, and the WVU Writing Center. Creative Writing
The Creative Writing Program consists of courses in fiction, nonfiction and poetry. The department currently offers an undergraduate major concentration in Creative Writing, a minor in Creative Writing, and an MFA in Creative Writing. More
Distance Writing
The Distance Writing Program offers a selection of online expository and professional writing courses for adult learners who may be constrained by time or geographic distance. More
National Writing Project
The National Writing Project at WVU is a collaborative program that improves student writing by forging links between universities and K-12 school systems. More
