West Virginia Writers' Workshop 2021
Write Wildly and Wonderfully
Different Approach, Same Excellent Instruction: This year the West Virginia’s Writers Workshop will be conducted as a fund-raiser…for the West Virginia Writers’ Workshop!
For twenty plus years, we’ve been able to host the WVWW on the beautiful, historic campus of West Virginia University. Budget constraints at the University caused by the pandemic make this impossible this summer, but we hope that by having a fundraiser, we can return the Workshop to campus next year and offer our usual lively, informative, and supportive experience for writers around the world.
This summer’s WVWW (July 15 to 18) will be conducted via Zoom. The suggested donation is $100. We would of course be grateful if you contributed more. We understand if you have to contribute less. Either way, we would love to have you in the Workshop!
This year’s Workshop will operate on the philosophy that we are all writers and that concentrating on a certain genre doesn’t prevent us from: a) writing in another genre if we want to; and b) offering helpful advice to writers who are working in a genre other than ours.
Therefore: Our aim is to have at least one 16-person workshop composed of fiction writers, poets, and nonfiction writers. We expect this mix to lead to a dynamic conversation and helpful advice.
In addition, we will have at least two craft workshops (with writing exercises and a chance to share your work), a conversation on publishing, and a final-night participants’ reading. The Workshop leader will also be available to meet individually with participants.
