It’s hard to believe we’re already four weeks into the semester. One of our favorite ways to slow down during the chaos that is spring semester is to grab a piece of writing and to indulge for a few hours. Luckily for us, there’s a bounty of great writing available and we’re happy to share what our own WVU MFA students have been up to as well as our alumni.  

Bryce Berkowitz, a WVU MFA alum, sat down with current MFAs to discuss the ins and outs of searching for an academic job. 

Despite a summer full of challenges and changes, the time has arrived for fall semester to start again here at WVU. The WVU MFA program is especially excited to get back to work and meet the new class of MFAs. This year WVU welcomes six new writers. Get to know our new class better below!

On Thursday, April 30th family, friends, and colleagues watched as the MFA class of 2020 virtually graduated. Despite the physical distance, our graduates’ writing and presence resonated in respective our homes throughout the country. 

Matthew Dougherty, a rising third-year fiction MFA at WVU, recently won the Sonora Review flash prose prize!

This past year our MFAs have published their writing, worked on projects with English department faculty, and contributed to social justice initiatives in their communities. We’re so proud of everything they’ve accomplished. Learn more about three current MFAs below.

On January 28th nationally renowned author Crystal Wilkinson gave a reading and book signing in the Milano Reading room of the Downtown Library.
